What is the difference between Organic Cotton and Natural Cotton?

Many assume that Natural Cotton is Organic Cotton. Natural Cotton is not Organic Cotton or totally Eco-friendly. When you see Cotton Products labelled as “NATURAL”, you are getting Conventional Cotton grown with large inputs of Chemicals, Pesticides, and Herbicides to control weed growth.

There are no inspection guidelines to ensure processing of Green/Natural cotton is Chemical Free. By contrast Organic Cotton comes with certification and by being grown on land that is Chemical Free for at least three years.

Global Organic Textile Standards (GOTS)

  • Organic Cotton Garments are GOTS certified.
  • GOTS Certification is applicable from Ginning of Cotton to till Packed Product.
  • Ginning of Cotton, Yarn Manufacturing, Weaving, Dyeing , Stitching Unit, Printing Unit, Embroidery Unit etc. are independently Certified for GOTS.
  • GOTS Certified Dyeing Units have Waste Water Treatment.
  • Colors used to dye Fabric & Printing are AZO free, Eco-friendly Biodegradable Organic Dyes.
  • Product has to free of Formaldehyde.

Socially Responsible

  • No Child Labour allowed at any of GOTS certified production unit
  • Good working conditions for workers
  • Wages are given as per market rate
  • No Social, Religion and Gender based discrimination at work place.
